On January 15, 2025, Prince Giovanni Luca of Sabourg attended the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Daniel Chapo, at the invitation of the Mozambican authorities. Among the guests of honor were the President of South Africa, H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of Guinea-Bissau, H.E. Umaro Sissoo Embalo, and other foreign political and diplomatic figures and institutions, including: H.E. Fortune Z. Charumbira, President of the African Union Parliament; Paulo Rangel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal (pictured to the left of the Prince-Abbot); and Dammu Ravi, Secretary of Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India (to the right of the Prince-Abbot).
The Prince-Abbot’s statement in support of the new President at the end of the ceremony held in Maputo: “H.E. Daniel Chapo is a reformer who is moving towards a substantial streamlining of bureaucracy to combat corruption and give his people dignity and a future, both on a human and technological level.”
