Legal warning to Mrs Dobler – Official Statement on the Correction of False Claims in Social Media

Press Release

The Cabinet of His Most Reverend Highness sent a formal notice to Mrs Nina Dobler on 7 July 2025 because she continues to use the title of Princess of Seborga, claiming to be the successor to the Prince-Abbots of Sabourg. Upon receipt of this formal notice, Ms Dobler modified her website at the bottom of the page ‘Activity not recognised by the Principality’, finally indicating that the Principality of Seborga is a social promotion association under Italian law.
Ms Dobler continues her delusional communication on social media, claiming to be the head of state of the Principality of Seborga. The official website of the Principality of Sabourg clearly highlights the false myths of Seborga and the imaginary state created in the 1970s for tourism purposes by Giorgio Carbone. False myths in Seborga – Principauté du Sabourg

Ms Dobler recently appeared as an actress in a German television programme about a successor to the throne of Seborga.

The Dicastery of the Communication finds it necessary to respond to recent claims circulating on social media suggesting the existence of a so called “Principality of Seborga” with institutional legitimacy.

We state with absolute clarity: The Principality of Sabourg is the only legitimate and historically established institution. A Principality of Seborga does not exist. The statements currently being spread online are misleading and lack any legal foundation.

For clarification:

  • The so called “Principality of Seborga” is merely an Italian association without state or religious recognition.
  • Assertions regarding an alleged “Princess of Seborga” are fabrications, created solely for tourism and media purposes.
  • The Principality of Sabourg, founded in 1261 by the Benedictine monks of Saint Honorat and lawfully restored in 2019, is the only sovereign and religiously legitimate entity.

We therefore call upon all media actors and social media users to cease the dissemination of these false claims and to respect historical truth.

The Principality of Sabourg will defend its historical and religious legitimacy with determination and reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings against any individual or organization that continues to propagate misleading information.

This declaration constitutes the official and binding source of the Principality of Sabourg.
